Art Mattered, Art Matters chronicles Art Matters festival from its inception to today. In the year 2001, founders Julie Fowler, Michael Golden, Ruth Sumiko Tabata, and Yael Wand organized the first edition of Art Matters Festival. From that point forward, hundreds of participants have contributed to the festival's reimagining of programming that reflects and pushes the boundaries of the Faculty of Fine Arts undergraduate student body. Art Matters invites you to explore and engage with 25 years of the festival’s archives through a retrospective exhibition commemorating its history and all the individuals who have shaped the festival over the years.
Showcasing a comprehensive selection of mediums and memorabilia, Art Mattered, Art Matters welcomes you to touch, flip, read, watch, listen, see, and experience your way through two and a half decades of collected artworks and material. In the spirit of Art Matters’ playful nature, journey through time to see Art Matters as it is: a celebration of all that is thoughtful, messy, experimental, and inspired.
